If you've ever had to install a luggage rack on a bike and had to really fiddle with it, you appreciate immediately how useful these little spacers can be. They're included on some racks like those from Tubus, but they're so convenient for various uses on an adventure or city bike that we needed to stock some.
Aluminium is lightest, but the zinc-plated brass is more corrosion-resistant (particularly in a Montréal winter when salt and moisture are ubiquitous).
Use them on racks, fenders, accessory mounts, etc etc. Wherever you need to slightly space something off the frame, you'll want a couple of these on hand in your tool box.
