Downtube friction shifters for modern drivetrains
Description

Friction shifters are the most reliable way to change gears, bar none, and these are the most advanced there's ever been. Dia-Compe use an evolution of SunTour's (minute of silence...) Power Ratchet system for nearly effortless shifts.

These are a special version for shifting 11-speed systems (and any lesser amount of speeds, of course). The right-hand shifter has an oversized barrel to pull more cable, making it possible to shift a derailer with a greater cable pull ratio over its full range.

Attach them to any frame with "Shimano-style" downtube bosses (including all modern frames with downtube bosses). These cannot be adapted to fit on thumb-shifter mounts or bar-end pods, as the oversized barrel would interfere with the mount.
