Over the years, the Andra rim (aka a Sputnik without eyelets) has developed as strong a reputation as the rim itself. This will make for super-strong wheels even for a heavy rider doing loaded touring, or for heavy-duty utility bikes.
How is it so affordable yet strong? The tried-and-true way: more metal. This rim is obnoxiously heavy, at over 700g each. We recommend it for heavy riders or very heavy bicycle loads, and you should consider if the extra weight is really worth it - will you be lifting the bike, travelling with it, etc. For 99% of the bikes we work on, normal rims such as the CR18, Rhyno Lite, or Hplusson rims are plenty strong and durable.
The spoke drilling angle on the Andra lends itself especially well to large-flange hubs, such as internally-geared hubs and dynamos. The very thick (machined) brake track means you won't have to replace it anytime soon even if using rim-brakes.
This is an itsy-bitsy-slightly-less-overbuilt version of the Andra 30 that takes wider tires, so the end result for durability winds up being similar.
